Taking Advantage of Investment Themes in Today's Markets (Part 1)
The past year and a half has obviously brought significant change to most peoples’ lives, as many people were forced to start spending more time in their homes than ever before. This seismic shift shocked the world, and at the same time shocked investment markets globally as people everywhere tried to digest what Covid-19 meant for day-to-day life, and for the future.
People generally adapted their routines quickly though, and investment markets almost everywhere rebounded, largely on the back of unprecedented government handouts, interest rates dropping to historically low levels, etc. As consumers and companies changed their spending habits (i.e. changing the demand side of the goods equation), coupled with challenges created by Covid and the lockdowns it generated, as well as production shortages from disruptions to labor forces (i.e. changing the supply side of the goods equation), the price of many items shot up, as noted in the following article “The Perfect Supply Chain Storm”.
